I was born in Hull in 1949 and have lived in Market Weighton , East Riding of Yorkshire since 1983.
As a self taught artist with no formal qualifications other than a GCE in Art from High School, I have been lucky enough to have my work exhibited widely in the East Riding of Yorkshire area and my paintings hang in several countries including Canada, Australia and Spain.
As a young man I trained as a ships Radio Officer and sailed the world for twenty years on many types of merchant ships before coming ashore to live in the beautiful Yorkshire Wolds.
Inevitably from my past experiences, landscapes, seascapes and marine subjects comprise the majority of my work but I am not afraid to experiment and am always looking for new challenges.
I am inspired by the detail of John Ward of Hull and E.K Redmore whilst enjoying the simplicity of Norman Wilkinson and the styles of current artists like Wieslaw Wilk, Mathew Snowden, Nicholas Bott and Dirk Verdoorn.
Painting is my pleasure and a hobby. Although not a business I will happily sell to anyone who admires my pictures and am happy to carry out commissions or conduct workshops and demonstrations for art groups and other interested organisations.
My studio is in the loft of a three bedroom semi so studio visits are not practical but if you wish to see a painting in the flesh before purchase we can work something out.
By dealing direct with the artist you will avoid hefty gallery commission and charges made by other exhibitions, as a Yorkshireman value for money is important to me!
